Rex Gunner. As bitter as he is beautiful.

The owner of the largest construction company in Gingham Lakes has been burned one too many times. His wife leaving him to raise their daughter was the last blow this single dad could take. The only woman he’ll let into his heart is his little girl.

Rynna Dayne. As vulnerable as she is tempting.

She ran from Gingham Lakes when she was seventeen. She swore to herself she would never return. Then her grandmother passed away and left her the deed to the diner that she once loved.

When Rex meets his new neighbor, he knows he’s in trouble.

She’s gorgeous and sweet and everything he can’t trust.

Until she becomes the one thing he can’t resist.

One kiss sends them tumbling toward ecstasy.

But in a town this size, pasts are bound to collide. Caught in a web of lies, betrayal, and disloyalty, Rex must make a choice.

Will he hide behind his walls or will he take the chance . . .

My Review:
A.L. Jackson is definitely one of my favorite authors and in my opinion a virtuoso in writing heartbreaking romantic stories with incredible characters that will leave you craving more. And Show Me The Way is definitely not an exception. It caught me with the very first word and I couldn't put the book down till the very end. The story is definitely an intriguing emotional roller coaster that will keep you on your toes and make you shed a few tears for Rex and Rynna and their painful past. The notes of suspense in the story, just make it even more irresistible.

Rex and Rynna are two intriguing characters. Both of them lived through heartbreak that has left scars in their souls. They lived through loss that shaped them to be the people they are today. Rex is distrustful and definitely not open to new experiences or taking chances. Which, ones you find out all the skeletons in his closet is not exactly surprising. But to be honest, I did struggle with his aggressive and rude behaviour in the beginning. I knew that there is something painful in his past but until I found out what towards the end of the story, I couldn't exactly understand him.

I had similar feeling about Rynna. Though there were hints about her past and things she lived through but until the real reason she run from home was revealed, I couldn't understand why she disappeared for such a long period of time. And yes, I agree that the humiliation and pain she lived through is not to be underestimated, I am still not sure that she should've stayed away for such a long period of time. Apart from that, I really liked her sunny disposition in most situations. Her belief in love and good was contagious and in the end exactly that and her persistence is what helped Rex find his thirst for life and love again.

As a whole I really loved the story. It is emotional, romantic and even a little bit suspenseful. The characters are captivating and I am definitely intrigued by the secondary characters. I can't wait to find what happens with Nikki and Ollie. And of course Kale :) I hope their stories come out soon because I need my next A.L. Jackson fix ;)
