Review: The Difference Between Us by Rachel Higginson

I'm cursed.

At least when it comes to finding Mr. Right.

I'm tired of men that only want one night stands or blind dates that are nothing but awkward and uncomfortable. I'm tired of avoiding inappropriate text messages and the constant disappointment of always meeting Mr. Wrong.
After all these years of dates that lead nowhere, I can admit that it's me. I'm the problem. I'm shy and picky and cursed. Definitely cursed.
So I've decided two things.
The first? I'm giving up dating and relationships and men in general. Maybe, possibly, forever.
The second? I'm going to have to try harder to avoid Ezra Baptiste.
If I couldn't hack it in the kiddy pool of dating, I certainly can't swim in his deep end. He's too successful. Too intense. He's all man when I'm used to nothing but boys pretending to be grownups. He's everything I'm afraid to want and so far out of my league we might as well be different species entirely.
So he'll need to find a different artist to paint his mural. And a different graphic designer to help him with his website. He'll need to find someone else to glare at and flirt with and kiss.
It can't be me.
We're too different.

A really good read!
Here are some thoughts about The Difference Between Us:
- I really liked the dynamic between Molly and Ezra, the two main characters. They were perfect for each other, two pieces of a puzzle that fit awesomely.
Ezra is this alpha man, strong, capable, a business man who knows what he wants and does everything in his power to conquer it. Molly is more quiet, a reflective girl, even too much sometimes. She considers herself on a really different level than Ezra, and this is one of the reasons why she's really sceptic about starting a relationship with him.
They have really different personalities, but I liked reading it playing out.
-  I connected more with Ezra than Molly, probably because I recognise myself in him the most, and also because I would have behaved differently than Molly in some occasions. But one of the things that I really liked is the fact that even if she had many many many doubts about her relationship with Ezra, she was lucid enough to realize that it was all bullshit, and that he was really made for her.
- Henry, Molly's boss, was really a character that I disliked. He's a real pig, and I was really happy when Ezra took the matter in his hands, so to speak.
- I've always like Rachel's writing, and this is no exception. The story is really fluid, absolutely not stilted, and captivating.

Title: Something So Perfect
Author: Natasha Madison
Release Date: July 31st, 2017

Synopsis:

Matthew

Drafted first round pick when I was seventeen, playing first line at eighteen, branded NHL's bad boy at nineteen. At twenty-three I was cut from the team and living back home with my parents. A knock on the door brought an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. All I had to do was prove I learned from my mistakes, so no way would I fall for a chick with a pouty mouth even if I wanted to spend all day devouring it.

Karrie

When my father gave me a job, I had no idea it would be to babysit some washed up NHL player. He wanted me to be his chaperone, his overpaid babysitter. I thought it was a joke. Then I met him, Matthew Grant. I wasn’t prepared for this particular bad boy. He’s not only hot but he’s arrogant and kinda sweet in a 'you make me crazy' kind of way.

Basically now that he’s finished screwing up his life, he’s decided to turn mine upside down.

She’s the first thing I’ve ever wanted more than hockey.

He’s the guy I know I should stay away from.

But what if this thing that started out so wrong turns into something so perfect?

Blog Tour: The Brightest Sunset by Aly Martinez

Ok ladies, now it's time to share my thoughts about this absolutely amazing book!

The Brightest Sunset (The Darkest Sunrise Duet, #2)

Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon CA | Amazon AU

Synopsis:

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Bullshit.
Words destroyed me.
“I’m sorry. She didn’t make it.”
“Daddy, he can’t breathe!”
“There’s nothing more we can do for your son.”
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Lies.
Those syllables and letters became my executioner. I told myself that, if I didn’t acknowledge the pain and the fear, they would have no power over me. But, as the years passed, the hate and the anger left behind began to control me.
Two words—that was all it took to plunge my life into darkness.
“He’s gone.”
In the end, it was four soft, silky words that gave me hope of another sunrise.
“Hi. I’m Charlotte Mills.”

Review

OMG, this was the perfect ending to this awesome duet!

The first book left us with a huge cliffhanger, and in The Brightest Sunset we pick up from where we left The Darkest Sunrise.
It was a rollercoaster, up and downs, but I loved every moment of it.

Some moments were really heartbreaking, so much raw emotions pouring from the pages. My heart broke in million pieces in the first half of the book, feeling so much for Porter, for what he had to endure and suffer.
Brady was a piece of shit, let me tell you. I understood his jealousy, but I hated him so much for his behaviour toward Charlotte and Porter.

Charlotte was a trooper, so strong, and maybe the only one with a clear mind about what was happening, without prejudice obfuscating it.
I loved how she trusted Porter and her feelings, how she didn't let Brady, Tom or her mother change her mind about him. This made me believe in her true sentiments for him, and as in the first book, I rooted for Charlotte and Porter every single minute.

Travis was such a strong little guy.. One of the reasons why I hated Brady so much is that he made things difficult also for Travis. This little child is sick, and he is forced to leave his safe harbour to go live with strangers. I wouldn't have wanted to be in him, and I can't imagine what he might have felt during the first weeks of his new life.

As the previous book did, also The Brightest Sunset made me feel, feel and feel. The writing style was outstanding, I was left speechless by some sentences such they were so out of this word amazing.
And I agreed with how things went, I especially admired Porter when he was talking with Brady. He was reasonable, open to compromise, and only wanted the best for Travis.

I'm sorry this review is full of names, names and names, but I feel like I got to know every character during these two books, as if they were my friends and I was sharing with them this difficult period.

Sooo, yeah, absolutely read this book, you wont regret it!

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas. She is the author of Flash Point, a romantic suspense standalone, as well as the co-author of the erotic series, A Desperate Man, with Ella Frank. The latter has scarred her conservative southern family for life, bless their hearts. Licked, a romantic comedy, will be released November 11th, 2015 and is the first in the L.A. Liaisons series. My Review:

I love Laurelin Paige and I've read nearly everything she ever wrote. Star Struck is one of the very few exceptions and I am so glad that she re-released it with this incredible cover because otherwise, I am not sure whether I would've found the time to fit it in my reading schedule :) If I have to describe the book with only few words, I would say sexy, romantic and just a little bit heartbreaking. It doesn't hurt that he male lead is simply yummy. In my opinion, everyone should meet Seth. He is one hottie that needs to be in your BBF list ;)

Initially, I wasn't exactly a fan of Heather. I thought she was definitely stuck-up and also a snob. Which, considering she was coming from "the wrong side of the tracks", was kind of ridiculous. But she definitely found the way to redeem herself and after finding out more about her past, I might even go as far as saying that I can understand her. At least partially. And thanks to Seth, she did manage to get free from the chains from her past that were keeping her from fully experiencing life and enjoying the things that bring her pleasure.

Seth on the other hand, I fell for him from the very start. He is alpha in every sense of the word. And it doesn't hurt that he is gorgeous. His past was also not easy and a betrayal from a person he loved, nearly destroyed his chances with Heather. But he did find the way to redeem himself :D Though, to be honest, I don't think Heather could've lived without him :D

So, in a few words, if you are looking for a steamy read for the hot summer nights, you don't have to look any further. Star Struck is everything you are looking for with a touch of romance and a sprinkle of heartbreak. So don't waste your time and pick your copy now <3

My Review:
This is not my first Susan Mallery book and to be honest, it is also not the first time I read it :) Three Little Words is one of my all time favorite Susan Mallery works. There is just something in the characters that just pulls me in every single time I reread the story. The book is intriguing and in a big way it is a sweet romance with just a pinch of hotness about two people that were always meant to be together.

I just love Ford and Isabell. Isabell is strong and independent and in a big way she tries to portray how hard she can be. But the truth is, that she has a soft center. She feels deeply and can be hurt severely by the people closest to her. And there's always been only one man for her. Since she was 14 years old even if she thought that that was just a teenage crush. But let's be honest, who won't fall head over heels for Ford Hendrix. He is enigmatic and broody and he is also alpha and domineering. But similarly to Isabell, he has a hart of gold, and that heart has been given away to the one woman that is his other half many years ago. Even if he doesn't realise it himself. I think Ford was actually one of my very first BBFs. The one BBF that started my love for military characters. And who can blame me :D He is simply delicious :D

In addition to Isabell and Ford's story, the thing I really enjoyed was Kent and Consuelo's relationship. I just loved those two. Even though, at a first glance they are very different, with a more thorough look you can see how they fir together like two pieces of a puzzle. One of the things I loved the most, was the scene where Kent tries to protect her. And yes, Consuelo doesn't need protection but with his act, he shows that he simply wants to take care of her and treat her with the respect and love she deserves.

Of course, if you've read the other books in the Fool's Gold series, you get to see those characters too. So don't worry about it :D But my recommendation is to read the book because of Ford and Isabell. It is definitely worth it ;)

As I mentioned before, this is not the first time I read this book. But I think that this is an amazing story and everyone should read it. So if you are in the mood for a sweet romance with just a pinch of hotness and a very yummy ex- Navy Seal, then you should definitely pick your copy. You won't regret it ;)

Cover Reveal & Excerpt: Porter (Men of Lovibonf #3) by Georgia Cates

Title: Porter
Series: Men of Lovibond #3
Author: Georgia Cates
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Indie Formatting Service
Release Date: August 4th, 2017

Synopsis:

My employee’s daughter. The tomboy. The kid who once did odd jobs around the brewery. That’s all she was… until three years passed and she walked into my office for an interview.

Frankee Dawson is no longer that girl I once called Kiddo. She’s grown into a beautiful, sexy, desirable woman. Very desirable. And that’s a problem. She’s my employee’s daughter. Lovibond family. And too young for me. Too innocent.

I want to feel her respond to my kiss.

I want her body to tremble as she anticipates my touch.

I want to learn all the places that bring her pleasure.

But mostly I want her to know that she’s never truly been loved by a man until me.

Frankee is my intern and under me for the summer. Literally. It’s a difficult secret to maintain when you can’t keep your hands off each other.

This was supposed to be a hot summer fling. Sex and fun without commitment—that’s what we called it. But we were wrong. This is more. I’ve never felt this way about a woman. Never cared more about someone else’s happiness more than my own.

I love her and I’m happy. So damn happy… until a terrible mistake from my past springs forward and threatens to rip us apart.

There are a million reasons for her to leave me. And trust me, she should. But all I really need is one good reason for her to stay.

Excerpt:

Unedited and subject to change.

Oh my God. Someone needs to explain to me how I’m supposed to eat when I’ll be alone with Porter in his condo. When I know for a fact that he’s going to kiss me. He’s said as much. And there won’t be anyone around to keep us from doing a lot more whatevering.

Porter opens the door and catches me around the wrist as we enter the condo. He’s going in for the kiss first thing.

He pulls me close and then turns us so my back is pressed against the door. “I can’t wait another minute for this.”

His hands cup my face the way they did during our first kiss. Although it’s a repeat move, it’s no less romantic this time around.

I quickly lick my lips and Porter presses his mouth to mine before sucking my bottom lip into his mouth and holding it between his teeth.

So hot and sexy.

I place my hands on his chest and the pec muscles I feel beneath the fabric are rigid. This man works out. A lot. I would love to see all the goodies that are hidden beneath this shirt.

We make a game of biting and sucking each other’s lips. It’s fun and playful.

Until it’s not.

Our kiss is no longer teasing. It’s heated and demanding with increasingly harder hand grips and squeezes. His hands move to my hips and he uses them to steer my body to the sofa while kissing me en route. He walks backward and sits on the sofa, leaving me to make my own decision about how I want to be positioned.

Beside him?

Across his lap?

On top, mounting him?

I place a knee on each side of him and lower my body to straddle his. His hands move to my hips and he grips the sides, moving them so I’m rocking against his hard cock pressing against my crotch.

One of his hands leaves my hips and comes up to wrap around my nape, pulling me down so his mouth can reach the side of my neck. His mouth is sucking pretty hard. I’m certain I’ll wear a love bite there for all to see. Not sure how I’ll explain that one but I let him continue.

“Tell me to stop and I will. Just say the words.” He’s talking about stopping but his mouth is kissing and sucking and nibbling harder.

I grasp the sides of his face and press our foreheads together. “I like what we’re doing. Don’t stop.”

“I don’t know your limitations.”

“I’ll tell you when you’re there. For now, keep going.”

“Fuck… Frankee. The way you make me want you… it’s irrational. Makes me lose all sense of self-control.”

Porter lifts my body and flips us so I’m beneath him. His face is pressed against the side of my neck leaving kisses in its path. One hand slides under my shirt and dips into my bra. He rolls my nipple between his thumb and index finger and it instantly hardens. And it’s like a control center for everything between my legs.

I want his hands on me.

I want his mouth on me.

I want him on me, period.

I bend my knee and bring my leg up so it’s wrapped around his waist. His body conforms between my legs like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that connect perfectly.

We just fit.
