Review: Professor Cline Revealed (The Professor #1) by J.M. La Rocca

Title: Professor Cline Revealed
Series: The Professor #1
Author: J.M. La Rocca
Publication Date: February 27th, 2015
Synopsis:

On the outside I seem to have it all. A promising career as a law professor, family money, and my good looks, but my life was full of secrets. I knew how to put up a good front; it was a mask I’d worn for a long time. I kept a rotating door of women to help me forget, but my efforts were futile. I was haunted by guilt, my always lurking, underlying darkness. I thought I had control, but there were things I had no control over.

Then I saw her.

Emma was the light to my dark, a beacon that called to me when I knew I should stay away. I avoided this kind of connection for a reason. The sins of my past left me with scars and not all of them were skin deep.

People thought they knew me, but in reality, they knew nothing.

About the Author:

I've had a passion for reading and writing for as long as I can remember. It has always been an escape for one reason or another. Now, I'm taking that passion and turning it into a book. My debut book Lifeless will be released late summer 2013. I can't wait for you to read this story that has been brewing in my head for over a year. :)

My Review:

OMFG!!!  I am speechless. That's the first book I read by J.M. La Rocca and I was completely blown out of my mind. It was simply out of this world. The story is really intriguing and extremely hot with a nuance of danger and a promise of so much more. The characters are so captivating that I couldn't help relating with them on some level. With every single word I read I was pulled deeper and deeper into the story until I was so obsessed that I was nearly brought to tears when the first book finished. It's a great thing that I have the second one lined up ;)

Mason is simply a god like creature. I so wished I had such professors at university. I would've paid much more attention than I did :D With his sea-blue eyes and dominant alpha behavior he is close to perfect. When you add to that the demons that constantly torture him and the danger that follows him, there is simply no way you can pass him as your next BBF. The tragedy Mason lived through as a kid left deep wounds that were only made deeper by his father's cruelty. Instead of being the nurturing presence associated with a parent, Mason's father was cold and indifferent most of the time. And at the times that he actually paid attention, Mason wished he didn't. As a growing teenager, he was blackmailed to do unspeakable things and that only cemented the disgust and hate he felt towards his father and even himself. Even though the negativity he feels towards himself is not warranted, only the right woman can heal his wounds and make him believe in happiness and love again.

Emma is exactly that woman. In a way she is still innocent and pure but she is also deeply hurt by her ex. In Mason she finds the keeper of her bruised heart. And at the same time she is strong enough to help him beat the nightmare he lives in. There relationship is not easy by any account. There are stones that make them stumble but every time they manage to overcome the difficulties together. And the off-the charts chemistry between them can only help. The heat they create when they are together will simply leave you breathless.

And if all that is not enough for you, there is a suspense quality to the story that will keep you on your toes most of the time. There is also the whisper of danger and action with the promise of more in the next book. I think if you give a chance to this story you will be fan of the author for life. It was simply that good.

If I have to summarize, I will just say that that this is a must read. I was captivated from the first word. I loved the characters and the story in itself is amazingly good. If you are a fan of FSoG, then this should definitely be your next read. And I am pretty sure you will love it eve more than FSoG. I am diving now into the second book because I simply need to know what will happen next with Emma and Mason :)
